流浪する現代の吟遊アーティストvqによる入場無料の単独公演がWWW企画のFREEシリーズにて開催

ラップ・ユニットでの活動を起点にハイパーポップやサウンドクラウド・ラップのシーンから頭角を表したvqは、2024年3月にリリースされ話題となった「肌」を皮切りに、より現代的で身近なデバイスであるスマートフォンを楽器として自然に採用したことで、ラップ世代の吟遊詩人と自称するポエトリーな情景からサウンドスケープや即興的な実験電子音楽へと移行。様々なアーティストとのセッションやコラボレーションの制作、ブランドのイベントにおけるインスタレーション、DJ、プラグインの作成、欧州ツアーや東アジアでのイベント、大舞台含む幾多のライブ・パフォーマンスを経て、昨年のニューイヤーイブにはForestlimitにて異例となる48時間に及ぶ超尺のワンマン・ショーを成し遂げる。ある特定のシーンやジャンルに捉われず、イベント毎に様変わり、AIも入り組むポスト・デジタル世代におけるアコースティック・サンプリングへの呼応とフィジカルへの反動、友人宅を住所不定に流浪するライフ・スタイル等、そういった時代、環境、生活を一連とした流れから生まれる音楽性は即興性、有機性、流動性に富んだ現代の"吟遊"と呼ぶに相応しく、本公演では久々に自身のリリースを下地としたライブ・パフォーマンスが予定されている。

一方WWW企画のFREEシリーズはShine of Ugly Jewelと美術家uraunyによってWWW全面協力の元FREE RAVEとして2018年3月にWWWβにてスタート、2019年4月開催のWWW Xでは海外アーティストやMall Boyzも招き、レイヴをキーワードに大きな反響を得るものの、コロナ禍で休止となる。その後2023年5月にみんなのきもちの熱海で予定されていた野外レイヴが悪天候によって中止となり、その損失をサポートするため復活を遂げる。その後も2025年1月に世界のノイズ作家である重鎮Merzbowの単独公演、2026年2月には照明デザインを軸に活動する佐藤 円によるプロジェクトNothing Happened等、定期的に入場無料のイベント・シリーズとして開催されている。

An entrance free solo performance by vq, a contemporary wandering minstrel, is being held as part of WWW's FREE series.

Having risen to prominence in the hyperpop and SoundCloud rap scenes following his work with a rap unit, vq--whose much-talked-about track 'Hada' was released in March 2024--has naturally adopted the smartphone, a more contemporary and accessible device, as an instrument. This shift has seen him transition from the poetic imagery of a self-styled 'troubadour of the rap generation' to soundscapes and improvisational experimental electronic music. Having undertaken sessions and collaborative projects with various artists, created installations for brand events, worked as a DJ, developed plug-ins, toured Europe, performed at events across East Asia, and delivered numerous live performances--including on major stages--they achieved an unprecedented feat on New Year's Eve last year by staging an ultra-long 48-hour solo show at Forestlimit. Unbound by any specific scene or genre, his music shifts with each event, reflecting the post-digital generation's interplay between acoustic sampling and AI, a reaction against the digital, and a nomadic lifestyle spent drifting from friend to friend with no fixed address. This musicality, born from the interplay of the times, environment and daily life, is characterised by improvisation, organic quality and fluidity--truly deserving of the title 'modern minstrel'. For this performance, a live set based on his own releases is scheduled for the first time in a while.

Meanwhile, the WWW-organised FREE series began in March 2018 at WWWβ as 'FREE RAVE', a collaboration between Shine of Ugly Jewel and urauny, with the full support of WWW. The event held at WWW X in April 2019, which featured international artists and Mall Boyz, garnered a huge response centred on the theme of 'rave', but was subsequently put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Subsequently, in May 2023, an outdoor rave scheduled to take place at Minna no Kimochi in Atami was cancelled due to bad weather, and the series was revived to help offset the resulting losses. Since then, it has continued as a regular series of free-entry events, including a solo performance by Merzbow--a leading figure in the global noise music scene--in January 2025, and the project 'Nothing Happened' by Hitoshi Sato, who specialises in lighting design, in February 2026.

サウンドクラウドで沸き起こった新世代のラップ・シーンから活動を開始し、中国での626company主催公演やヨーロッパ・ツアーなど国内外で活動。48時間に及ぶ単独公演を開催するなど、音楽・空間・身体を一体化させた実験的かつ即興的なライブ表現を展開、インターネット以降の感覚と極めてデジタルかつフィジカルなライブ体験を往復する稀有な存在として、新たな表現を更新し続けている。

A Tokyo-based Japanese artist who performs with multiple smartphones as his instruments. Between overseas shows and appearances at major festivals, he lives out of Tokyo internet cafés and friends' apartments ― a troubadour of the post-digital age.

Emerging from the new generation of rap that took shape on SoundCloud, he has performed at home and abroad, including a 626company-presented show in China and a European tour. Feats like a 48-hour solo show define his approach: experimental, improvisational live work in which music, space, and the body collapse into one.

Moving between a post-internet sensibility and a live experience that is at once intensely digital and intensely physical, he remains a singular presence, continually renewing what expression can be.
